Mod Support to be Added to inZOI

In an official letter to players, inZOI director and producer Heung-jun Kim has released details of the new content and features that will be added to the life simulation game from May to August 2025. The letter includes a review of feedback, improvements in development, and the development team’s roadmap for expanding the modding system.

Heung-jun Kim began the letter by thanking players for detailed feedback and highlighting recurring issues. These include building stability, inconsistent emotional displays, and insufficient depth of the karma system. He also expressed his delight at the positive response from players to the recent improvements to the character emotion system.
The most important feature of the update is the addition of modding tools. Currently, these tools do not allow creating entirely new gameplay systems, but will allow players to modify in-game data. There will also be official plugins for 3D modeling software like Blender and Maya, allowing for more professional-quality creation of items like furniture and clothing.

According to Heungjun Kim, modders will be able to use these tools to work on textures, meshes, visual effects (FX), and MetaSounds. Tutorials are also included to ease the learning process. Mod support will be an ongoing project, and the inZOI Studio team plans to fully develop the modding system by December 2025 (Azar 1404).

Small vehicles such as motorcycles will be added to inZOI shortly. Heung-jun Kim noted that the new vehicles are intended to fit in with the new city’s more intimate and compact atmosphere in the game. Customization of these vehicles will also be a top priority for the development team. He added, “Since these features are developed based on the existing vehicle system, some animations may seem a little unnatural, initially, but we believe that this experience will create a sense of adventure in the city and enrich the narrative and atmosphere.”

The development team is also developing crime-related content to deepen the karma system. In the new version, Zoi characters may commit crimes, be arrested, and go to prison, which will trigger new story events. Heung-jun Kim wrote, “Our goal is to create a richer experience, where karma-based interactions lead to logical and relevant outcomes.”

inZOI was released in Early Access for PC in March 2025 (Esfahan 1403) and was considered a successful alternative to The Sims 4. The game sold over a million copies in its first week of release. Heung-jun Kim concluded by noting that his team constantly reviews feedback and prioritizes features based on user needs, promising that future updates will be packed with rich content and a meaningful experience.
